Saw this on Ebay.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Vin...item231f55e75e Beautiful guitar, but I am kind of skeptical as to the dating. Take a look. Beautiful Guitar, none the less.

that is a pretty guitar but to my completely untrained eye it just doesn't look like a 1960. Couldn't give you a decent reason as to why but that's my gut reaction

You can get a better deal at Gruhn's. And, you know what you're getting there.
But, both of the his big dollar Standards have been haning on the wall for quite a while now. I'm thinking that they are all a little over-priced. |

Go post this over at MyLesPaul - you'll get the answer in seconds just as you would posting a '60s Tele here.

Also: refret, no pickup covers, new nut, new pots, new switch tip, added strap button holes...

IF, I were to present a guitar of that value and supposed age I'd take it to a professional photographer who was experienced with guitars and get a dozen good pics, especially of the important details. When I sell a $200 guitar I make do with my old Sony:)
ps: I know a good photographer who can do nice work on guitars, in Phx if you ever need one. Never had the lust for a Paul, regardless of price... not my thing.

My guess is they are more aware of what they might be able to sell it for than most of the membership here. And that could be well below their asking price. Maybe someone selling a guitar for 180 grand should have more or better pictures, but someone buying one should have enough sense to ASK for more if they need them. As well as questions about details. And the ad says to contact them for an actual shipping price.

All the top-of-the-food-chain collectors who bought pre-war D-28's and/or D-45's and not pre-'61 Les Paul's or Les Paul Jr's back before the crah feel very happy these days.
Nothing sank more than vintage LP's...

Maybe. It looks refinished, to be honest. At any rate, I'll say the same thing that I said when these guitars were a tenth of their current price: you'd have to be insane to buy it. There are other guitars as awesome if not more so as that one is, and they're a LOT cheaper.

Even if real, that guitar will not bring that price. This is cheap worldwide acvertising. I had to chuckle at this one...." and the bridge itself is backwards, with the screws pointing towards the neck". That is the correct orientation for an ABR-1 bridge.

Just like there's somebody who is willing to buy a large bus and spend $100K (or more, way more sometimes ... I am going to that car show again) to put a full bar and swimming pool in it and not blink, there is somebody somewhere on this planet willing to buy this slightly modified Les Paul. There are original, untouched ones for less though. If this thing is not a clever refin, then the burst has been preserved very well by being in case 99% percent of time. The real burst examples I have seen are all way more faded and closer to an "unburst" finish. |
