Squier Jaguar? Wow!
This looks so nice ...
... and so cheap. How does Fender do it? |

They are very sweet looking, but I didn't like the one I player very much. It felt cheap and only sounded "okay".
I prefer my Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster. Indonesia vs. China does seem to make a difference, I guess...

IME a very good guitar but I did put on 11-49 strings and had a day to adjust the bridge. Now it plays great:-) You can hear it at www.soundcloud.com/eleganterna and listen to Surfing the Jaguar, jump up the surf, the stomp, sittning down all featuring a SQ Jaguar as the only guitar through an Orange TH 30.

Xagyg: El Toro Loco cool ;-)
As for the Jaguar, I find it hard to not play it, and not only due to it being a new for me guitar. I does take some time to get it set up, out of the box it was really bad and the set of 9s on it stayed on less than 20 minutes, I does need 11s, a shim in the neck pocket, polishing of the frets and little tweak of truss rod, intonation and pu heigth adjustment before it is playable so it is not maybe for absolute noobs. I can see a future where a lot of almost new Jaguars might turn up on the use guitar market. But, if you can do a set up, it is nothing wrong with the sound and now it plays really good. Just my experience of it. Will actually gig with it on august 17 just to test if it hold up for that. Ok, enough on Jaguars, this is a Telecaster forum right ;-) |

I got one last week, and honestly it has surpassed my expectations, especially for the price, which I think is a bit of a steal.
I've heard of problems with these, primarily being the strings, truss rod, cosmetic blemishes, but mine was great out of the box. It was in tune, out of the box I've been having a blast with mine, I haven't even changed the strings yet! (Although I'm sure it will be even nicer with the appropriate gauge on there) 1st offset, highly recommended |

I can se that ^^^^^coming my way as well but on the other hand the Vintage Modified Deluxe Telecaster with the Fender WRHBs is calling for my attention... I for one like those WRHB. GAS! Got some gigs during the fall, and gig money is gear money ;-) Can't have too many guitars!

I can also see myself making a template from the body of the jag and build a telemaster, got a neck, tuners, bridges, some P90, a variety of Telecaster, Stratocaster and a box full of humbuckers.... switches... strings... controls... OMG I got everything but the body for a build. And next week vacations ends. Hmmmm where did i lay that router???? ;-)

Got a surf green VM Jag. Mine is excellent, and most of the mods I was contemplating won't happen because they are not needed.
This VM Jag seems very reminiscent of my 3 Classic Vibe Teles, just needed more attention to setup and immediate replacement of the poor quality and way too light stock strings. Plays and feels very nice, sounds like a jag, and looks great. And very reasonably priced.

The Squier J Mascis JM is made in China. That was the one I was comparing the VMs to.
