NGD - Cort TS 520 LP

I got tired of my LTD KH-502 with the floyd so I got rid of it. Hit the local used gear store last night looking for either a tele, strat, or les paul style guitar.

Only one tele in the shop - a Tradition Jerry Reid. It was a decent guitar but honestly just didn't feel right and the pickups were weak.

Tried 3 MIM strats - strats are super comfortable but just don't inspire me at all. Plus none of the strats had a finished fretboard. I really like that compared to bare wood, but that must be a "feature" of the american standards because none of the MIM's had the finished fretboard (maple necks).

Tried an ESP LTD EC-256 with P-90's...this one was close to being a keeper but was a factory 2nd. Last factory 2nd I bought required "extensive" fretwork and was much less of a deal after I factored in the cost of the luthier. Plus this one has a very flat neck - not sure of the radius but was not comfortable for bendy-blues.

I am tired of Epi LP's - too hit or miss on QC plus I think they're over priced. I found this Cort les paul, has the dark tobacco burst with flame top which I REALLY like. But I thought "It's a Cort...it's not going to be any good".

Took it down from the wall and played it - perfect weight, not heavy like a typical les paul - very comfortable. Nice comfy neck and humbuckers that don't totally suck. Neck plays nice, has definitely had a setup as the nut is cut perfectly and there's very little buzz. Made in Indonesia.

I was surprised and impressed enough to bring it home. Spent last night and this morning playing it and it feels great. I tihnk she's a keeper!

Here's a pic - without which this entire thread would be speculation! :)

Beautiful! I am definitely a Cort fan. I am putting the finishing touches on my Cort Source semi hollow and it is turning into a monster! Maybe we need to start a Cort club.
