Reverend Buckshot
Yeah I need another guitar like another hole in the head, but I've been intrigued.
You guys that have them, do you still like them? |

goldtopper, i was reviewing your earlier experiences.
What do you think caused you to not bond with it? I had an early Eastpointe Reverend Rocco that I could never quite bond with, mostly the tone was just too upper midrange-focused for me. |

You know, it's hard to put a finger on it.
It had a great, solid neck. The pups were great and the bass contour was cool. Totally well made. Maybe it was the odd shape that put me off. I'm pretty traditional I guess and I seem to gravitate to T,S or LP's. All of the nice things said, I don't think I'd buy another just because of the wonky shape.

Not exactly what you asked about, but...
I just bought a used Reverend Warhawk II 390 and Am really happy with it. Definitely a different beast from a Buckshot. Build/finish quality is great. The tone and bass contour controls both really effect the tone and are very usable. The neck is really comfortable. I'm definitely still in the honeymoon phase, but once I put new strings on and tweaked the action a bit I was hooked. I like the odd shape too. I wasn't able to play 1 first, so took a chance, but I'm glad I did! Gratuitous Photos: ![]()

A little over a year with mine, and it's a keeper. The only thing I've changed is swapping the bridge pickup for a GFS L'il Puncher XL 10K (judging from comments on the Reverend Forum, I'm not the only one who's used that pickup for a Buckshot). I liked the bridge pickup, but it wasn't a real standout. Since I already have a traditional tele-style (Logan) with Keystones, I figured I'd take the Buckshot in a slightly different direction. The L'il Puncher matches up nicely with the Revtron mini HB neck pickup, and it gives me a 2 HB option while still keeping a toe in tele-style waters. I wouldn't want one instead of a tele, but it's a nice addition to the family. I also have Danelectros and a 2 P90 LP, so the Buckshot is my Swiss Army Knife guitar. Definitely the most versatile electric I own. Emotionally, it's not my #1, but functionally I would have to say it is. I don't regret buying it new, but a nice used one would probably be a good choice, value-wise.

Well, I'm picking one up tonight. I had put a low bid in on a mint cream Buckshot on ebay, w/HSC. I hadn't even noticed the seller was only 45 minutes from me. Anyway I was the high (only) bidder, so I'll be taking a little drive this evening. I get to save the shipping costs, and he gets to avoid the shipping hassle.
I hope I like it. Clump, I've admired those Warhawks also. |

Well, if you got a good price on it, I'm sure you're OK if you don't bond with it. They're an attractive guitar (Reverend's top seller I believe), and I can't imagine having a huge amount of trouble finding a buyer. If you do bond with it, congratulations. I think they're an excellent workhorse guitar. Maybe it says something that when I went to look for a pic of mine to post, I could only find pics of me gigging with it. All my other guitars, I have pics of them posing at home.

Dan, cool. Mine's got a maple neck. 475 w/ Reverend HSC and it's supposedly mint. Not a steal, but not too bad, I think. Impulse buy for sure, I guess I bid not thinking I had much chance of "winning".

The honeymoon continues...
after a few years now! This is one guitar I have not modded whatsoever! The only thing I'm contemplating is a noiseless bridge pup (Area or Wilde) for playing out as that fully exposed pup is a great RF antenna in some venues.
Incredibly versatile axe--the neck is wonderful and IMHO every guitar should have that contour control.

Well, it's pretty nice.
If I have any criticisms they would be that the bridge pickup could twang more, and the fretboard is a little flat. I had known going into this that lots of folks had thought these things too though, so no great surprises there. The seller was super, threw in some extras like strings and a case humidifier, and even a Reverend t shirt! He also ended up taking 10 bucks off the price, when all was said and done, as I'd already paid the entire cost including shipping charges, and since I was picking it up, he'd agreed to refund me the 40 bucks; he gave me 50. So a pretty great experience. I had picked up my kids after work, we went out to a nearby bowling alley for all-you-can-eat wings, and then took a drive out to the seller's place. After picking up the guitar we went to a beautiful wooded state park with two lakes near there, and enjoyed the sunset out on the beach. Anyway yeah, it's a nice guitar. |

I have a Flatroc, about the same but with 2 Filtrons in it.
Balances well, built like a tank, always gets nice remarks on look and tone (but never on my playing...HEY!!!!). I have played many gigs with it, never a problem Use that BCC...it's Reverend's secret weapon.

Pic.s or it didn't happen. I don't know what sounds best, a Reverend, sunset on the beach or all you can eat wings.
Does the body feel smaller than normal? And by normal, I mean a strat or tele. |

I have no idea how to do pics here, when I figure that out some day I'm gonna put up my whole collection of guitars and cool t shirts!
I wouldn't say the body feels smaller than a Fender, but the neck is noticeably flatter, which can be a good thing or not. I'm still trying to adjust to it |

I picked up a used Buckshot in the same color as yours at GC a few weeks ago and somehow got a steal. It was in perfect and seemingly unplayed condition. I got it for $350. I absolutely LOVE it. Great, versaitle guitar and it just has some terrific sounds. I like the way it feels ad the way it's built. You are going to fall in love with your Buckshot. I guarantee it.

saneff that is a sweet deal.
I've not played the Buckshot just a whole lot, as most of my playing these days is at band rehearsals/gigs, and it's been awhile for either, but I am really very impressed with it, with the little bit of plunking around I have done on it |
