Garage Sale Find : New (old) Martin Day

Priced like an old shop vac.

2002-ish but not sure of the exact model.

Looks like an all-mahogany 000-15 but those usually have a decal rosette and don't have tortoise shell binding front and back. Says "Custom" inside.

There are some cracks to fix on the side but my luthier says "That's just cabinetry son !"

Ya never ask Mike Eskimo how much, as you can count on it being up for sale soon.

Nah - not this one. I'm selling my Recording King fake D-18 at a local store and have been looking around for a summer flattop and - well here it is !

Missing 2 strings. I'll have to take it off your hands. I have some old strings from the 60's that should fit.

I haven't been doing much on the weekends lately. I may have to start going to garage sales.

I've actually been looking for an old shop vac.

That one would do nicely.

Those all mahogany Martins are really great guitars. Congrats. All I ever see at garage sales are old shop vacs.;^(

I have never seen a guitar of any kind at a garage sale.

Mike you lucky dog!

That's an OM-15 Custom.

It was a special limited run OM-15 that was made for Muisicians Friend with butter bean tuners, tortus binding and the white rosette.

I think that less than 1000 of them were made.

This was back when you could still buy a D-15 for $600 (it's when I bought my D15) and the OM Customs were $799-ish.

That's a sought after and coveted guitar. The binding and butter beans made the thing so classy and unique. I wanted one and when I had saved the cash they were gone. I bought an OM16GT. I watched the OM Customs on MF.com and then eBay and then they were gone.

You scored man. Congratulations. The new Martin OOO15M's have butter beans and the rosette upgrade but not the binding and not the 1-3/4" nut. I bought a OOO15M this spring for $1150.

I'm green with envy Mike. Wow!

I'm glad you stopped at the garage sale! This is what I get for checking the forum when I can't sleep. (-:

Look at the small tear drop pick guard on the OM16GT in the center. That's an OM pick guard just like yours Mike. Wider nut implies finger style which requires a small pick guard.

Mike that was the garage sale find of a lifetime!

I dig it already and I've still only got 4 strings on it.

Not 1 3/4" nut but there's no way I'm gonna complain.

Thing is, a bunch of guys had picked it up and checked it out throughout the day - and no one bought it !!!

I got there as they were about to pack it in - at the end of the day.
