I have been offered a Doodad Dany Lademacher (Herman Brood) signature model.

http://www.doodadguitars.com/lademacher_c.html

Okay, I LOVE Herman Brood and I love Lademachers work on Brood's records and his current Doodad siggy model is based on his mid eighties Robberts Lademacher model which he used on plenty of later Brood and Innersleeve stuff.

Lademacher (far right) playing his original model in the mid eighties.

So as a fan of Brood, it would be a no-brainer for me to go ahead with the deal, right?

Except for some reason I keep looking at that guitar and cringe, there's something about it that just rubs me the wrong way...

You aren't alone, brother. IMO, it looks like one of those weird Russian or Eastern European guitars. Don't feel guilty if it doesn't appeal to you. I think that's what you're saying. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Simple solution.

I kinda like it. I would play something like that JUST because it doesn't look just like every other guitar out there. I love the classic designs. Tele, strat, LP, V, Explorer, you name it. but I also like stuff that is off the wall and looks different. I dig this guitar a lot. The only thing that would keep me from it is if it were not a nice guitar. To me, playability, sound and overall quality are a LOT more important than looks. But if it were a really nice guitar, then yeah, I'd play it. I think it looks cool.

I did have to open this thread and check, because looking at the title, I thought Blazer was making up something weird to mess with us. That IS by far the goofiest guitar name I've ever read.

Resale value would probably a drawback.
You'd have to find buyers who had heard of the Herman Brood band and were big enough fans to want to buy a copy of Dany Lademacher's guitar.
I think it looks kind of cool with its Gumbyesque shape and colour, but it's not something that I would fling money at to buy.

I do like the name, though.
