Rare Gibson

Has anyone ever heard of the XBL Pro model from 1983? Ultra rare and "ungoogleable".

Try XPL Pro and you'll find a LOT on Google.

No, and I was conscious during most of 1983. Any pictures or description?

I've seen 1 XPL Pro in my life. Of course I played it! I wasn't all that impressed, locking trem and all. That might change if I tried it again today

Ahhh...XPL it is!! And it was supposed to be a remodel of the Explorer. Nothing is "ingoogleable" - and no mistake.

When I read the title: "Rare Gibson" I thought this thread was going to be about one without a broken headstock

Yup, there's more forms of XPL: the double Cut Les Paul type, a flying V and THIS...

That is one lovely guitar, there. I like that little curve there, so you can play it on your left knee. Or that's what I'm assuming, since it seems like it'd sit right on your thigh if your left thigh were in the angle there.

Yeah that's how Albert King played, well sorta because Albert King had a flying V but the same idea.

Yeah, it's how classical guitarists learn. Just never seen an electric specifically shaped to sit on the left leg.

Looks inspired by the Ibanez Artist which ironically was inspired by the LP.
