les paul volume loss?
So my friend lent me a epiphone les paul and the volume is all good on the rhythm pickup, but when I put it in the middle

Putting the pickups out of phase does give a slight volume drop in the middle position but certainly not huge as the OP suggests with this guitar.
I've done the Greenie mod to my LP and it doesn't impact very much at all on the overall volume. So I think there must be something else amiss here.
