Non-reverse Firebird

So I've always (I mean, ALWAYS) wanted one of these. A neighbor of mine when I was growing up had one of these (and a Tele Deluxe, and a modded Jaguar, and a Camaro, etc.) He was that cool 20-somehting guy all the neighbor kids wanted to be when we grew up. Anyway I've been looking at them on Ebay and elsewhere and now these have shown up online: http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Elec...n-Reverse.aspx
They seem to be the same price as actual old ones, not that it makes them any more affordable. So I have a couple questions:
1. Are these actually the price on the website? ($2129) I actually ventured out to the local GC (horrors, I know but they were actually pretty cool about it) The guys I talked to said they didn't know anything about them and if I wanted one I'd have to order one, and probably pay "list".
2. I've seen copies of these http://shop.myrareguitars.com/eastwo...ic-guitar.aspx These ones are basswood and Chinese made, they don't seem to have a good rep. what I've seen online (comparable to those GUitarfetish guitars, cheaply made)
Anybody else know of good "fakes" worth looking at?
3. Maybe I should go find an actual guitar to play before selling/saving etc to get one sight unseen on the net? THe last time I actually tried playing one of these I was about 12, and this would have been about 1980 so the memories might not be real accurate anymore...(and that neighbor guy may not have been burning incence like he said so that might affect the memories too)
Thanks guys.

In the mid 70's I bought a '66 used (from Adny of The Dictators)....loved it....gigged with it for years. The p90's were incredible although we called them "specials" back in the day. Mine originally had the vibrato but it was removed and it had a badass bridge. Great guitar!

Gibson is coming out with a non-reverse Firebird Studio very soon that should street for less than $1300. I think it has three P-90s. Pretty cool.

I guess this is not the time to mention that I found my '67 NR Firebird (w/P90s) at a local garage sale for $275.

Hey man Ill give you $300 for it! Ha.. .Seriously you got a mega deal on that. Care to show some pix? I love seeing some pix? I love seeing some "real world" NRs after drooling on the ones from vintage stores.

I happened to go to the cool vintage store the other day http://www.williesguitars.com/
and they had a NR so I finally got to play one. It was one of the recent "custom shop" ones, with the "Mary Kay" like finish. Man that was a bad idea, now I want one even more. http://www.williesguitars.com/index....3/inventory/40
the actual listing for the NR. Man that thing felt good to play, nice neck, it balanced good and the P90s sounded great. Now, which organs do I not need anymore...
Oh yeah, pix:

Although, oddly enough, I don't sound any better on a $2000 guitar than the $99 one I have at home...

I bought mine from Musicians friend a year ago for $1180. Just call and ask them for 15% off. I have 24 guitars and this is definitely one of my top 5. The neck is very Fender like and the tapped p90's are incredably versatile. Here he is with his brother and nephew
