Travesties to me personally are those ads listing a "Fender Stratocaster/Telecaster" with a picture so blurry that you don't know if it's a guitar or a hot dog. Then emails from me: Is it a Fender or a Squier. Their response: it's a Fender. I double check: Does it say Squier anywhere on the guitar? Them: no, it's a Fender. Me, so it's a mexican Fender. Them: yes, that's what my husband says.
I drive 45 minutes and then get a text: We just got back from lunch....the guitar says Squier by Fender. Their ad said $250....making it reasonable for a mim strat. I text back.....no thanks, I just sold that exact model yesterday for $40. (which I had). They should have feedback for Craigslist buyers and sellers! |

I saved myself from another exact fate. Another similar ad, also in the middle of nowhere. I responded to the ad: I'm interested in the guitar. Does it say Squier anywhere at all on the guitar. He responded yes, it says it in 2 places. I thanked him and asked that he say so in his ad and gave him the story above. He changed it.

Last two teles I checked on CL: ask the seller any fret wear? "None at all". Make the drive, one was an hour, damn things had divots. Where they hoping I wouldn't notice? Amazing, takes all kinds I suppose.

When my son was looking at LPs we saw a "Gibson Special" on gumtree for $800. No picture so I smelled a rat.
Called the guy and asked, is it a Gibson SG or Les Paul. Just says Special, he replied. Does it have the word "Epiphone" anywhere on the guitar, I ask. Why yes it does, he says. You really should mention that in the ad, says I, and the guitar is a $250 Epiphone Special II. The guy was clearly playing dumb, he knew what he had and that it wasn't a Gibson. He also said he had two people coming around to look at it. I sincerely hope one of them kicked his arse. |

Pay $150 for a Squier. Have it setup by a guy that knows what he's doing. Practice without putting a scratch on it. List it on CL with an accurate description (looks like new-not a scratch), then was contacted by with a sight-unseen offer (this happened) of forty big ones.
Facepalm! A mint guitar for approximately 1/4 of the street price? That's a stretch, and an insult...

I went down there and found him! I picked out a nice $75 guitar that he wanted $250 for and let him go through his whole spiel before asking, "Will you take thirty?" The guy just exploded and started ranting and raving and waving his arms around like I had just insulted his sainted Mother! I calmly waited until he had wound down and asked, "Why is it perfectly OK for you to do it to me on Craigslist, but I come down here, do it to you and its a federal crime?" That wound him back up and he started spouting off some Yankee Italian "YAH FUNGOO" sounding BS! I just walked on before he really hurt himself, but I noticed that Craigs List ads from my town stopped getting any response from him! |

I thought the title said Craigslist Transvestites.
I like the pink Jag and for $1500, it's a deal. Mark Jenny could put a nice relic'd finish on that--seafoam green anyone?-- for a few hundred, and you've got a vintage Fender for new guitar money. |

I was really considering getting the guitar and finding someone to refinish it to a different color, any idea how you'd get in contact with anybody? |
