I've got a '79 hardtail strat if I want a smoother rhythm sound, if I want more of a Gibson-type sound I have an '82 Hamer special fm.

You are, of course, assuming that a Tele is our 1st guitar. What if something else is our 1st guitar, and the Tele sits in 2nd place? Crazy talk, I know, but what if...

My soon to be 2nd is probably the Road Worn 50's Strat I just ordered, but for now it's my Gretsch Electromatic. Gives a completely different tone than my Tele's and Partscaster Esquire.

And he also assumes that there are only 2 guitars in the mix. I've got a bunch of #2 guitars.

My 2nd is my Gibson Firebird V, that is until the dog knocked it off its stand, now it's a fake upgraded Gibson Jr until I repair the peghead.

Yup. And that seems to be a trend here. For the record, my (non-Fender) Telecaster (style) guitar is my #1. Where I go when I put that down is anyone's guess. At the moment, the most likely suspect is my Reverend Buckshot, but I might go acoustic (jazzbox? dreadnaught? 12 string?). Then again, I might be putting the tele down because I need the extra bottom of my 7 string. And what if I'm just feeling like I need to play my LP more to justify the money I spent on it?

I think the question is in good faith, but fails to take into account the terminal GAS many of us suffer from.

I was asked what my first was this past weekend while picking up a guitar. I had to think about it and say that this week, it was my Music Man Albert Lee. Next week, well, I have 7 other guitars to choose from. I have no idea. I guess if I bring a backup to a gig, you could point to my #1 and my backup to #1 (which I choose because it's the closest match in case I break a string).

Shorter answer....I don't know.

#2 a Roland Keyboard.

Guitarwise though, I either use an Epi Les Paul or my Fender Malibu A/E.
