Gibson Les Paul 60s Tribute

Does anyone have any opinions either way on these? They look pretty great and the price is right. Haven't played one yet, but I plan on going to check one out this weekend.

How is the craftmanship, set up, quality, pickups, etc....

I have one. I got a new nut cut for it, and now it is KING OF ALL LES PAULS. That should tell you my opinion of it.

They sound great, look cool, and are as well-built as any other Gibson (and by that, I mean they're very well-built).

I picked one up last weekend during the labor day sale.

You need to play more than one - I played a couple stinkers before I played the one I bought. The P-90's sound freakin' fantastic and the neck is good too (although the neck was the variable on the ones I tested out).

Mine also has a minimum of that ridiculous "relicing" - you can probably find one that doesn't have much of it if you hate it like I do :)

Here's a pic:

I have one, and I agree with both above. Mine has hardly any relicing.

I will say the fret edges were terrible when I got the thing - razor sharp, but a little filing and it's great now.

I added a bigsby b7 to mine - always wanted an LP with a P90s and a Bigsby and now I have it and for less than $1000 - pretty nice!

I've got a lefty goldtop one with no relicing done to it and it's great. Plus shipped from gibson with a hard case for some reason. result!

Got mine in June. Great guitar. Lightweight (compared to other Les Pauls), feels good. '60s neck is a bit thin IMO but not a deal breaker. Quality is solid. There are a few finish spots around the neck joint that are less than perfect. Mine must've missed the relic-ing stage because it looks brand new. I added a Bigsby too. Always wanted a goldtop, P90, Bigsby Les Paul and I got it without breaking the bank! The pickups are crystal clear, in that the most minimal dynamics are heard. It is a truly delightful guitar.

Very nice & crisp sounding p90's, light, slim taper, vintage looks.
This is one of the rare gibsons I liked from the git go...

There are good and bad ones, but overall great value. I have a 50s tribute and an SG 60s Tribute. Love them both.

I had a LP 60s Tribute on order but back was made from 5 or 6 pieces which was a turnoff for me. My LP 50s is also a 5 piece, but I got a great deal for it so...

Same goes for the SG Tributes, the first I ordered was 4 piece, ugly has hell, but found another one with matched 2 pieces which looks and plays amazing.

So if possible, check them out first. If you like taking risks, have fun ordering online :)

I tested the Goldtop recently and very very impressed with it. Could have done with a good setup but the standard of finishing was excellent. Very light for a LP. It took a lot of willpower to walk out of the shop without it. Those P90s through a dimed amp are just magical.

I've only seen them in shops. Frankly, I thought they looked really cheap (the finish, mostly). I'm sure they're great players, but for $850 I would expect a guitar that doesn't look like it's made of plastic (even if that guitar is a "lifestyle brand" Gibson!)

I have a goldtop. Best guitar I have right out of the box. One piece back, great set up, fantastic p90's, unbelievable fret work. I called and had it picked out at Wildwood. Very resonate, about 8 lbs. Killer, killer, killer, best money I ever spent. Don't plan on changing anything on it. I highly recommend getting one. Best value for a Gibson!

I have one of the 50s Tributes from last year. Great guitar, but I did have to file the fret ends as mentioned above.

Another Thumbs-Up...

I was VERY surprised when I grabbed a GoldTop, love the weight (or relative lack thereof), love the resonance, neck is fine (I prefer the thinner profile) and the stock electronics sound pretty good (I do plan on shielding the cavity and running braided wire). I prefer it to my early 80s Pro Deluxe (nicknamed 'Lead Paul').

I like mine, but I had to have the springs under the pickups replaced because they rocked back and forth. I'd like to put a Bigsby on there.
