Fender HH Jag?
Hey there,
first post here. anyways, I've been a long time browser around these forums but never really thought about posting. Alright, so a buddy of mine is really GAS-ing for a Jag and I just happened to know a close friend who was interested in selling her Fender Special Edition HH Jag. (http://www.fender.com/products/searc...istoric_patent) We were just wondering if any of you fine folks could help us a little with the price? We've looked around but haven't really found anything of use. The guitar's about 4 years old, and hasn't been played in a while after she bought it for $900 CAD including a hard case + tax. It is kinda dirty, but otherwise in good condition. Any opinions would be a great help, maybe whether it'd be a better idea to save and buy a CIJ/better quality one or something similar? Thanks! I'm pretty sure it's MIJ, and I've heard that they're some pretty big differences (in quality) between the two (CIJ vs MIJ). But I'm not exactly sure. By CIJ, I mean Jags like this: http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/msg/2332274739.html and http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/msg/2331150218.html
Different beasts altogether, I'm sure. Anyways, thanks for the replies so far and yeah, he's pretty confident he'll like the scale, as he's used to playing on a Gibby-style length. He'll also probably mod it; the pickups are indeed pretty bad. |

I wouldn't say that there are pretty big differences in quality but I'm not positive, I think it refers more to year as the newer jag special hh say mij and i think this is 2008 to present on neck, I also thought it might refer to which factory it came out of from looking around on net but I never found anything definitive when i owned mine.

I bought a CIJ 2004-05 to my daughter almost a year ago for CAN $400.
One broken slide switch ( fixed, not even had to replace it ) and without gigbag. I saw a few local CL ads later between $550 - $700. A well made instrument but with a bit confusing controls. |

There are not a lot of really substantial differences between MIJ and CIJ.
Some MIJ Jags (not all) are made of basswood instead of alder. MIJ Jags have proper shielding. MIJ Jags tend to have fatter necks. CIJ's are typically more consistent in quality. The differences aren't enough to make me really care, but I tend to lean toward CIJ. |
