Clips that feature the Fender Coronado being played live
Well then let's enjoy the sound of Fender's least classic classic
First up here's some vintage New Jack Swing from Tony, Toni Toné And here's Jimmy Vaughan showing just how plucky the sound of a Coronado is. And who of you remembers Soul Coughing?

Any thread with Coronado in the title never seems to get much of a response. It's a shame because they're actually really nice guitars. I have on and it has such a nice balanced tone. It's one of my favourite guitars to play. They can be had for little money too. Thanks for posting the videos. Here's a bad picture of mine.

I picked up a book at Barnes & Noble called the Ultimate Fender Book and it came with a DVD that has a nice clip of the author playing some cool blues through a Fender Coronado with Carl Verheyen. Best $14.98 I've spent in awhile.

I've had a Coronado 12 or (XII) for years. It would never stay in tune, so I never played
it. Recently, I decided to have a proper set up done with the intention of selling it. The tech re-enforced the neck joint with some larger, thicker screws, and dialed the action in. Now, it stays in tune and plays and sound great. I'm not selling it! |

They are kind of an oddball combination of styles and features.....DeArmond pu's (which are actually highly regarded by many), ES-335 style body, Fender Jazzmaster type bolt-on longscale neck...never really caught on but that doesn't mean they were not good guitars.

Do I remember! Just had been playing 'Irresistible Bliss' in the car with my girlfriend on the way back from Gent last weekend ...
Used to see them in Knitting Factory and CBGB's back in the nineties - 'Deep Slacker Jazz'. The Coronado is not the only thing off-kilter in this band ... jazzy upright bass, good drumming, inventive use of samples ... |
