Post a picture of your mandolin(s).....

I saw a thread on another Forum with some great mandolin photos so I thought I'd start a similar one here. How 'bout posting some shots of your favorite mandolin(s). Here's mine:

The first is my old F-style, it's a natural finish with an ebony fretboard and an ebony Fishman bridge with a built in piezo. I've started collecting some autographs on it including...Ricky Skaggs, Bobby Osborne, Rhonda Vincent, Jesse McReynolds, Roni Stoneman, Leona Williams, Joe Hoppel (DJ Hall of Famer), and 70's artist Bobby G. Rice.........

Next is my old (MIJ) Epiphone A-Style. It's all beat to crap as it's been a workhorse since I bought it in SoCal over thirty years ago. I've experimented with all types of pickup configurations on this instrument but it really sounds great acoustically so I'm just going to use it for that. I've recently done a session with this mando and it sounded great.........

Lastly is my solid body Epiphone "Mando-Bird" eight stringer. This is a great conversation piece if there ever was one! Just for fun I took this to a bluegrass jam along with a small Roland "Cube" amp. I got some horrified looks at first but things went better after a while............Here are the shots....JH in Va.

I don't have a picture of my personal instrument handy. But it's the same model as this photo from Breedlove's website:

It's a KO style and I love it. I own 7 or 8 guitars but only one mandolin because it does everything I need it to do. The Oval hole and X bracing give it more of a warm, jazzy midrange chunk sound rather than a bluegrass "crack" sound and I will admit that my bluegrass chopping sound is not as bright as an F5. But it excels at playing Gypsy jazz, David Grisman tunes and Bach preludes.

It's so nice that I honestly don't have G.A.S. over any other mandolin. The most I'd do to it is to change the tail piece since mine doesn't have the cast tailpiece that the one in this picture has, it has the standard old style bent sheet metal tail piece.

I also got a old Epiphone MM-30 that I bought in 1998. Don't have any pictures, but it ain't a bad Mando. It seems to have aged well.

I started out by making my own "A" style mando (it has a matching bouzouki big brother. I was getting into Irish music at the time).

A year or two later I purchased a "F" style Michael Kelly Dragonfly Custom II.

F5 Style from Stefan Passernig, Austin, TX. The A style mandolin and the mandola are both "Old Wave" instruments from Bill Bussmann in Caballo, NM.

In the Musician's Friend catalog there's an.....

F-style mandolin for just a couple of hundred or so, I believe it's a "Rogue" brand of something like that. Has anyone seen or tried one of those? For that price I don't think it could to good. Somewhere near the late seventies or early eighties I did however buy a Harmony F-style that sold new for $149. It wasn't much acoustically so I electrified it until the truss rod bit the big one when I was trying to adjust it. I wound up making a clock out of it which didn't work to well as when it ticked, the body of the mandolin amplified the ticking big time so I had to take the battery out of it and just let it hang on the wall.....Here's a shot of it......JH in Va.

I have a Rogue that my wife bought me. I learned (what little I know) on it. Its not great, but its not horrible either. I use it for one song a year..at Christmas when my Church Choir sings "Tu Scendi Dalle Stelle". Otherwise I play my mandobird.

Oh yea, I forgot about the old bowl back. My parents found this in the attic of the first house they bought (I was an infant at the time). When I got older I fixed it up. But, it doesn't play that great. Its just a wall hanger.

I've never been able to find out much information on it. I don't know who made it or how old it is. (If anyone thinks whey have seen one like this, or knows some names I might be able to google do tell.)
