I'm enjoying the little short scale beast.

Awesome, John! That's exactly what mine would sound like if someone who knew how to play would play them...
You gotta try it with a 5150 through a 412... |

If you like the T-15, you'll love the T-30. Same scale length but you get more Strat tones. You can do some serious string bending. I've had all the Peavey "T" guitars, the T-30 is the one I kept. Nice demo, by the way.

Thanks Bud....I'll keep an eye out.
Thanks all. I didn't have any 10's left in the house and I restrung the thing with 9's on Friday. Short scale and 9's iw way too slinky. It was hard to keep in tune. I went to GC yesterday and got a 5 pack of D'Addario 10's and the 10's are amazing....it stays right in tune and I can still bend notes like Superman. Craigslist......jeepers. I scan the local craigslist musical instrument section every night before bed. Look at it if you don't normally. This T-15 was purchased new by a guy who played it for a month and quit because it was "hard to learn". Craigslist is a treasure chest.

DANG!!! DANG! DANG! DANG! I have been trying to not buy any new guitars and am actually trying to sell a few but these Peavey T-15, T-30, and T-60 postings and mentions are driving me crazy.......... I have a bad (and good) feeling that I will be purchasing one in the near future.
I would also like to know what the deal is with the T-27? what are the differences between the 15 and the 30?

The 27 was an HSS (Humbucker - single - single) and the T-30 was and SSS like a strat.
One of my T-15's is for sale in the classifieds here. (Wink-Nudge).

In my humble opinion, the T-30 is the pro version of the T-15. I've been told that the T-15 was designed as a "student" guitar and was meant to be a small, bare bones instrument. Regardless, it is a good guitar by any measure. It's probably my imagination, but the T-30 seems to be more substantial even though is basically the same size. The three pickups provide some nice Strat-type tones and the short scale, narrow neck is just plain fun to play. I replaced the original bridge with its one-piece saddle with a six-saddle bridge from a T-26 so I could intonate more accurately.

My first guitar rig, back in '83, was a Peavey T-60 and a Backstage 30. I sure couldn't make it sound like that then! Funny, I remember I was so naive at the time that I went to a music store asking about getting "super-distortion" pickups installed, because I wanted the cool rock sound and didn't know much about pedals, gain, etc (really didn't much about anything) and one of my buddies had an Explorer or something that had those Dimarzio pu's. Glad the guys at the store talked me out of it!
I sold the amp fairly quickly but played the T-60 into my first couple bands until I bought a '65 Strat (not all original) for $600. I later traded the T-60 for a banjo. Looking back, I wish I had kept both. Nice video John - it brought back those memories :) |

Makes me wish I had my T-60 back (sniff, sniff).
I currently play a Generation EXP Tele copy with HSS setup. Picked off CL for $85 - got it for a Christmas present. Great guitar. People can say what they want, but Peavey is some darn good stuff.
