What is your favourite Johnny Cash song?

Say why if you can...

I just heard "Tennessee Flat Top Box" for the first time, been listening to it over and over. New favourite.

I always liked "Ol' 97". The lyrics are quite shocking and brutal, and it has that typical twangy tele riff.

For me "I Got Stripes". Something about that rhythm and riff.

+1, one of my faves. Fave album always been Ballads of the True West, apart from the Sun stuff.

Way too many to pick just one. I saw at the post office last night that there's a Johnny Cash "Forever" stamp coming out next month, how cool is that

of all his songs, I've gravitated towards Folsom Prison Blues the most.

Get rhythm was my favourite before.

To be honest I really like a whole bunch of his music I didn't realise. I had just list heard records like Folsom prison and loved everything on it (John henry is cool!) - never thought about a time when he and the band had a less tight, well defined sound.

Got an old "best of" record, and its got all these gospel type songs on it which are great! And "flat top box" which is nice and bluegrassy.

Actually now that I think about it, I can't really decide between "Sunday Morning Coming Down" or "One Piece At A Time" or "Get Rhythm."

I read that Kristofferson pitched Sunday Morning Coming Down by landing a helicoptor on Johnny's lawn.

Being a blues nut i thought Johnny did a good version of this Jimmie Rodgers song (backed by The Red Devils). But it just goes to show that the man could sing most anything and make it his own.

It's a tie between Big River and Folsom Prison Blues.

But all the rest fall in close behind!

The one I sing the most: "Burning Ring of Fire".

From his latter years:
