I saw Johnny and June about 5 years before he died on his last tour. He had his son with him and they did about 3 hours.
Most of the night consisted of gospel tunes where they were singing about dying and going to heaven. In one of the songs he an June did a song together which was called if "If I get there before you do". It was kinds of sad. After his son played with his band he came on stage and did a whole mess of his rockabilly tunes. Him, his lead player and an upright bass player. Just to hear that was worth every penny to get there.
He told a story of how when he started at Sun he couldn't afford a drummer so he would put a piece of paper in his guitar and do the snare parts while they were recording.
That period of time is one of the great ones of history. Centuries from now people are still going to be talking about Elvis and Johnny and the rest of those guys.
