Your first concert-remember the line up?

My first concert was at The Forum in Los Angeles in 1971. "Yes" was the opening act and the Forum left the lights on while they performed so people could find their seat. They were just getting started in the U S and "seen all good people" was their big song .Next up was "the J Geils Band" and they rulled the stage.Amazing performance and Peter Wolf was like an American "Mick Jagger". AWESOME. Then Ten Years After took the stage and the headlinner was a let down but it was still a cool show that looking back on had a great lineup for this 17 year old.

I saw Kim Wilde in September 1982 when she launched her first tour. I was 15 and she was sooo HOT. Ahhh, being a teenager!

1st real concert- College 1971-2 ish. The lineup: 1; Michael Nesmith solo. 2; The Byrds sans David Crosby, and last but certainly not least - Linda Ronstadt. I couldn't swear to it but I think one of her gutar players was Bernie Leadon. There may have been other future Eagles in her lineup, too. I would like to get hold of an old yearbook with pictures and have a look and see if I could identify anyone else. That was pretty much when i really started appreciating late 60's, early 70's country rock. Still love it. The best part is I got in free with my student ID.

I think it was the Ill Wind from Boston opening for Moby Grape. I remember the Ill Wind, probably because I got their album. Can't say I really remember Moby Grape.

around 1965, saw the 1910 Fruitgum Company at Phillips University in Enid Ok (hey it was a free ticket and I went with my mom who worked at the college)
A couple years later saw 3 Dog Night at the same venue, that was actually a good show that had the performing live music thing mainlined into me.
Mad Dogs & Englishmen in Tulsa when Leon Russell had the band rehearsing at his house.
Led Zepplin in Tulsa December of 1970 the 3rd album debut, show opened with Immigrant song, saw Jethro Tull a few days later, they totally blew my mind about how much fun you could have performing rock music for a living....

My first real concert (except for operas and a classical concert or two) was at the Melbourne Civic Auditorium in about 1965 or 66 and it was a rock and roll (especially surf music), hot rod, and surfer show. I cannot remember all the performers because it was similar to the TAMI show with band after band doing about 20 minutes all day long. I remember groups like the Safaris and Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels on the show and also a local Florida band that was very popular at the time called the Tropics.

I was truly blown away by Mitch Ryder at that show. He was the best, most professional showman of all the shows I saw for many years, but I was just a kid at the time. I also got to see a Ford GT up close which was a huge thrill for me back then. Several of the famous show cars were also at that show including, if I remember correctly, the Munsters' Coach and Dragula. It was a teenage boy's heaven back then.

Buck Owens, Don Rich, Tom Brumley, Doyle Holly and Wille Cantu

Still got the memory and still got the autographed picture.

1972 at the Nassau Coliseum, the opener was John Martyn doing his solo acoustic thing, then Free, the headliner was Traffic.
the tickets were $6.50, $7.50, and $8.50
I feel old, like I'm telling one of my fathers "bread for a nickel" stories.

My first real concert was Kiss, with Cheap Trick as the opener, I'm guessing '77?

Before that I'd seen some things at the fall fair, mostly Canadian stuff like Charity Brown, Downchild Blues Band, maybe the Stampeders. And, um, Tony Orlando and Dawn. Who obviously weren't Canadian.

Cheers,
Geoff
