Agreed....totally mesmerizing!!! I just love the pace and how it just seems to slow everything down around you. People should all play this tune when they're in traffic jams

As an ardent fan, I wanna encourage those not fully immersed in Neil's songbook to do your own "Ditch Trilogy".

Step away from some of the songs with legendary status, and listen to some of the others. There's so much more than just Like a Hurricane and the songs from Harvest. Listen the first solo album; try some of his CDs from 10, 15 years ago, 5 years ago. I love the songs that are fresh to people's ears and I love their reactions. So cool.

I guess the trick lies in what 3 chords you choose to use

Can someone recommend a Neil Young album for me? I like the loud electric stuff more than the acoustic stuff so an album with something similar to Cortez the Killer would be a great place to start. Thanks.

Hey Leep,

I think it's gotta be Everybody Knows This is Nowhere.

Cinnamon Girl,Down By the River,Cowgirl in the Sand...

Plus some prettier, mellow stuff to boot

Parts of "Sleeps with Angels" also fit the bill, particularly the title track, Change Your Mind/Blue Eden, and Piece of Crap.

Leep, you just might like Ragged Glory - around 50 minutes of Neil and Crazy Horse and guitars and vintage gear and feedback. What's not to love?

As a general rule, if the Album art or title says "Crazy Horse" on it, it will be primarily or wholly electric.

Neil has been pretty savvy about adding some more mellow compositions into most of his most worthwhile albums. Arc and Weld are the most audaciously loud and distortion heavy of his albums; also look for "live" downloads with Crazy Horse.

Avoid all the "geffen" era, avoid Harvest and Harvest Moon, avoid Comes a Time and Old Ways if you want hard electric.

It's just amazing how Young and Crazy Horse can put hard incredibly distorted guitars under airy vocals and sensitive words.

We try but everything seems to come out punk.

+1 on "Ragged Glory". One of the best "road" records ever. Get in your car and blast that one.
