Tab Benoit Convert
Thanks to Pandora, my horizons have been broadened. I have discovered and become a Tab fan. I went on iTunes and went into shock. WHERE TO START? Obviously I am way behind the curve here and $$$ is in short supply, so please start me on my Tab Quest with some suggestions. Thanks for your input.

"Power of the Pontchartrain" and "Sea Saint Sessions" are my 2 favorites. "Fever for the Bayou" gets a lot of play in my car too.
I LOVE Tab...if you can, see him live. He's about as much of the real deal as they come, and he's a great entertainer too. |

Tab Benoit ( pronounced ) BEN-WAH , I had the pleasure of meeting Tab,back in 1997,at THE DOUBLE DOOR, in Charlotte,N.C. I became a fan way before that, with his songs "Cherry Tree" and Nice and warm. Man that was the good ole days, just like now is too. Years later ,I moved back home to Toledo,Ohio, and Tab came in town on a rare visit! And he came with his new cd, Wetlands,. Long story, you will enjoy any of his work,if you have the chance to see him,buy him a shot of Hennisee and introduce yourself. If its early in the night,he may just sit for a min. Later.

I caught him at a local gig here in town at a place that maybe could hold 50 people, and he came in and played as if he was at a much more prestigious gig than what it was, and between sets he was freindly to everyone and as down to earth as you could get. Really left an impression on me on how to act at a gig. Oh yeah, his playing was really great too!

I like Wetlands a lot, and it has one of my favorite songs of all time : "When A Cajun Man Gets The Blues". It just so happens it was also partially recorded where I live.

I just came back from a weekend trip to New Orleans and after watching the Hurricane on the Bayou film at Imax I learned who he was. I can't believe I have never heard of him and lived in La. for almost all my life. I went straight to Peach music in the quarter and bought his "wetlands" album. I listened all the way home from N'awlins to Shreveport. Boris, I can't believe you never shared...ha ha! WaylonFan - "When a Cajun man... is my favorite so far.

I love Tab Benoit, Voice of the Wetlands, Whiskey Store etc. He is one of my favorite guitarists. While I think that all of his albums are good, I don't think that he really found his singing voice until the Wetlands album (2002). Prior to that it sounds to me like he was trying a little too hard to sound bluesy. Once he relaxed and started singing in his natural voice he became the full package. This of course is my opinion, but he definitely changed his singing style on the Wetlands album.
