How about some Neil Young. Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere is an awesome countryish song!

Ya Neil is great. We're doing Comes A Time already.

Thanks everybody for the wonderful suggestions! Definitely going to learn some of the songs mentioned here. Love that ole Country Honky Tonk Woman version by the Stones, that song would be perfect for sure.

Take care ya'll....

+1000 for Young Neil

How about Band of Horses? Brilliant band but even better live.

'Older' is pure country

'Compliments' is a good example of their sound

Steve Miller- Dance, Dance, Dance

Anything by John Fogerty can sound country

Ozark Mtn Daredevils- If You Wanna Get To Heaven

Pure Prairie League- Amie

+1 to whoever said just take a rock song and rearrange it.

Look to almost any rockabilly. It sits nicely in a country band setting.

"Country Honk" is actually the original version of "Honky Tonk Women". Mick Taylor came up with the arrangement that became a hit.

First Paul Stanley wrote it for Rod Stewart who stupidly didn't take it so Peter Criss, drummer of KISS, sang it and made it yet another hit ballad behind "Beth". Garth took the song to the charts many years later. It's just a good song which, unlike most KISS songs, can be translated into almost any style. It was pretty much a great song with hit status for anybody who did it.
