I've just discovered this guy, what a great player!

Any Lonnie Mack fans out there?

He was pals with Stevie Ray, if that means anything.

Had a couple of his earliest albums on vinyl. I was really into him in the 70's - not so much now. He's a great player though.

He's the best. Oreo cookie blues=white people problems, but I like it. And yeah, if you dig SRV and his COVER of "Wham!" then you gotta check this out. If you're just now discovering LM, then I bet you didn't know "Wham!" was a cover, huh?

Been a fan for about 20 years now. There's another thread on here about Lonnie Mack with some great info.

Little known fact...he had a custom tremolo bar installed on his Flying V (first year model) and it became part of his signature sound, so much so, that once his song "Wham" became a big hit, the tremolo became known as the "Whammy bar".

Not a lie.

Lonnie played in a lot of the clubs around where I grew up in the 60's. Everyone I knew who played guitar (including me) idolized him.

I have heard of Lonnie Mack, mainly because he was a big influence on SRV, nearly as big of an influence as Albert King.

Listening to Memphis Wham above, I was impressed by his tasty rhythm playing first, and his speedy leads next. Great tone! Not too distorted, but crunchy as hell.
