Well, there's thirteen hundred and fifty two Guitar pickers in Nashville
Well, there's thirteen hundred and fifty two Guitar pickers in Nashville ....
Carrying on in the vein of the thread about favorite 'under discussed' players.. Who are the really good players in Nashville that dont quite get the publicity...that are 'one click' down from the 'big time'....?('big time' being the Skaggs, Gill, Paisley strata) Guthrie Trapp, Rod Riley, JD Simo, James Mitchell, Hullett....come to my mind... |

And any one that unpacks his guitar could play
Twice as better than I will I've only spent one night in Nashville, went bar hopping up and down Broadway & 2nd street. I musta hit 30 clubs that night and EVERY one had an amazing Telecaster player who could just tear it up. I'm hoping to return there sometime this year.... love Nashville.

17 yrs ago Knopfler said in a GP mag interview rather emphatically, that world-wide there are so many fantastic players better than one could hope to be... end of arguement.

Even Vince Gill said..."the guy parking your car can likely pick you under the table."
I saw in a JD Simo interview that he was playing out on the street for days...(Broadway I think) and was just about to pack it in and go back home....when someone gave him a chance....sittin' in..with a band....and he has been there for years now. Lots o' talent out there. |

Forget pickers, some voices, a lot! That can make you cry...

Read an interview with Greg V where he said something like "At the grocery stores in Nashville the bag boys ask you 'Paper, plastic, or should I melt your face off with some killer guitar licks?' " |
