X in NYC - Billy Zoom
Amp guru and ax slinger extraordinaire Billy Zoom will be playing at Irving Plaza this Friday (and Saturday). Oh yeah, amazing ground breaking 80s LA punk band X will be there too!
I've seen John Doe and Exene Cervenka perform separately over the last few years (Original Sinners and John Doe Band) and can't wait to see the full band together again. http://xtheband.com/shows/ |

Saw them summer of 2009 - amazed at how great they were.
They played everything. Billy Zoom is a pretty effortless guitar player. It amazes me how much Johnny Thunders used to get talked about and yet Billy Z is pretty obscure. Hope Exene is doing alright.

Got my tix for the October 8th show here in Denver. They are screening the X movie and performing Los Angeles in it's entirety. Saw John Doe most recently about 2 months ago here with a backing band, amazing performance as usual. He has a new album out as well if anyone is interested.

All that X stuff was recorded with his Gretsch guitar plugged straight into a Traynor tube rig, with all the knobs dimed. No pedals.

In case they're coming through your town - GO SEE THEM!
They sounded absolutley fantastic. It was like listening to the record. Who knows, maybe they were lip syncing the show? Get there on time for the movie as well, it's worth it. Great job X! |
