Tele twang out of a strat?

Jimmy just about nails it here. I listened to a live stream of this show last week and didn't know he wasn't play a tele until I watched the video. Solo starts around 3:15.

Tremolo definitely helps beef up the twang factor, but that still doesn't sound like Tele twang to my ears.

A beefier (beefier?) A3 flatpole pickup wound with 43 like my Maverick along with this will get you close:

But it's just close enough. The rest is how you play it, amp, etc. Pete Anderson used to get ridiculous twang out of a Strat. A little luck and the right approach will get you close.

I get close with a Fralin Vintage Hot with the bottom plate added and a blend pot to add a little of the neck pickup. In fact if you blend in the neck just a little it sounds very Jimmy Bryant (tonally-ability is another issue).

Just reverse the middle and neck pickups on the switch.

You can hear the Strat, but its YOU who twangs it.

Looks like the answer is yes!
There's a Nashville cat, can't remember his name, a session man, plays a Mary Kay Strat, twang as far as the ear can hear.
