howlin' wolf tune in viagra commercial

hello friend,
last night while watching the sox game i seen a viagra commercial with howlin' wolf's 'smokestack lightning' as the background music. now, i'm all for exposing wolf's music to as many as possible, but there are some things i never imagined i'd be associating with itů

Wasn't he that one that used to sing "I'm A Man" with a beer bottle in his pants? Might be something more than just background music going on there.

Wolf's Smokestack Lightning does have the "Im a man" thing going too if I remember right.
He also did a real ad of his own that is one of my favorite HW songs called "Drinkin CV Wine" (a masterpiece!) It took me a long time to appreciate Wolf; many years after I was hooked on Muddy,Buddy and the rest.
Seems to me the obvious choice for a Viagra ad would have been "I'm Ready" by Muddy Waters.

My wife and I were watching television on Saturday when the Wolf " Smokestack " Viagra commercial came on. My wife and I looked at each other and just cracked up. I had been playing the main riff of this song for a few weeks earlier. She has now taken to calling me " Viagra Song Man."

Well, blues songs are, generally, about sex.

I believe it was Muddy that used to do the beer bottle 'trick' if I recall correctly. He'd shake it up first of course.......you get the idea I'm sure.

I saw B.B. King live several years ago (great show, btw) and he went on for a while about the virtues of Viagra. I gather that's a common element of his shows lately (with references to "Doctor Viagra" and "Nurse Cialis").

Leave it to the blues performers to be honest about the realities of life!

They put this other ad out there a while back where it's a bunch of guys "of a certain age" sitting around "jamming," (probably how the ad guys worded it in the concept proposal) and they were playing Elvis' "Viva Las Vegas," only they were singing "Viva Viagra."

My first response was to throw up in my mouth just a little bit, and my second was that they were giving a whole new meaning to the term "wood-shedding."

A while back they did use "I'm Ready" for the one that isn't Viagra. (Sorry, not "up" on my ED medicines.)

Or perhaps "Little Red Rooster," by Big Mama Thornton!
