Schaller Golden '50s humbuckers

I've had these sitting on a shelf for about 25years, and someone over in the Duncan forum pointed out that Schaller Golden '50s pickups sounded pretty good, so I'm going to try these in my Les Paul Standard soon. Stewmac's wiring instructions for these is clearer than Schaller's.

Heavy duty, huh?

I don't think I'm going to bother with covers. I'm tired of the extra work covers are making for me.

Those look pretty nice! If you get tired of 'em, give me a hollar! I have just the guitar they could go in to

It has a set of Washburn pickups which could stand to be upgraded.

I remember that guitar!

Washburn humbuckers don't kick butt?

I've been waiting so long for my unpotted Duncan '59s to show up, that when someone mentioned Golden '50s, I said, wait... I think I have one of those! Turns out I had a set.

The Schaller boxes say the neck PU is 7.4K, and the bridge is 8.2K

Duncan says their '59s neck is 7.43K, and the bridge is 8.13K

Strikingly similar specs! Hmmmm...

Yep, I get around

The Washburns don't actually sound bad, they just sound very generic. They've got a clear sound, just no character.

I'm actually pretty interested in how those unpotted '59s are going to work out!

I guess it's easier to wind a humbucker, than it is to give it's sound character.

Curiosity got the better of me. Because Duncan Seth Lovers and Antiquity pickups are unpotted. And the price of the unpotted Duncan '59s was great, and I kind of like the potted ones. So I ordered a set, thinking they'd be at my doorstep in less than a week!

I can't find anyone selling the Schaller Golden '50 pickups in the USA anymore. I guess you can still buy them if you're in Europe though.
