Texas Special to midy - replacement sugg.

Hi,
I have a texas special in CIJ telecaster. I like the fullness ... especial the neck pickup, but sometimes the pronounced mids are just to strong - sometimes when I close the tone down the highs (kind of jazzy sound) just do not cut through. Can someone suggest replacement pickups ... not so different - just with just a bit less mid output. I was thinking of Harmonic Design Vintage Plus set?

Seriously, the Texas Specials seem really sensitive to height adjustment more so than other pups.

Use you ears, not a ruler. With the neck pickup start at being flush with the guard.

This doesn't really show the height, but this is where the bridge sounds good to me. I also try to angle the bridge pickup so that it is lower on the bass side than the treble side, it kind of evens the stagger out a little and sounds balanced ( at least balanced enough)...

If adjustment dosen't cure your problem. try a set of Van Zandt True vintage pups. I replaced a set of Texas specials with the Van Zandts and was very happy with the results.
