GFS Pro-Tube Lipstick (black gloss) vs Customshop Texas Special

I am stuck.

http://store.guitarfetish.com/gfsprlitupig.html

The black lipstick looks stunning and is cheap compared to the Texas special.

Does anyone have any experience with the tones of the black lipstick? Have to think hard before parting iwth my $$.

Well, it all depends on what sound you're looking for, if you like a jangly Dano-sound you should try the GFS Lipsticks, but if you want a raunchy sound similar to the Texas Specials you could try these:

I've never gotten a jangle from my lipsticks.
They're hot and raunchy.

I think I can get in the ballpark of that tone with my GFS lipstick neck pup. It's the 2nd most used pup in my collection of 2 guitars :-)

+1 - that's very jangly, and, yes, you can get that sound with lipstick pickups!

Here's something a quick search on YouTube turned up that I would call "raunchy" (P90s are the best choice, if you want raunch):

Now, Roy Buchanan's sound isn't raunchy - his sound is more like "ice-picky", one of my least favorite guitar tones (ooops, better run for cover now...)
