Pickups for ESP Vintage Plus for a rockin' sound
Hello Again
Im loving this new tele, my first, but not very satisfied with the pickups. Very dark and muddy and huge volume loss when switched to neck pickup. Im originally a hard rock metal player that plays Les Pauls. Im wanting to play more classic rock and blues ala Chicago style with a mix of Stevie with this tele, but I would like to be able to crank it loud and heavy on the bridge once in a while and rely on the neck pickup for my blues sound without much tone or volume difference between the two. Any suggestions on replacements? I was thinking a Chopper T in bridge or a Hot Rials and Twang King for neck. What da ya think? |

Pickups
I think your on the right track. The Twang King is a great, bluesy pickup. I've never tried a chopper, but the reviews are pretty good for what you need. I have a Duncan Lil 59'r in theb ridge of my tele and it is a great pickup. It's not the traditional tele tone, but it still twangs pretty good while cranking out harmonic rich tones. Another DiMarzio pickup that intriques me is the Tone Zone T. From the reviews I've read on it, it may be exactly what you need. I'll be trying one myself soon. The Twang King matches well volume wise with the most bridge pups, so you should be OK there. Good luck and welcome to the TDPRI. Sound like you have a great guitar. ESP makes some nice guitars.
