I don't know if it's A3... I know they changed the pickups on the standard tele with the "hot" version.. from what I heard, it was the same physical specs wound to be 15k or so... maybe a query to Yegbert might yield a more suitable response...

It sounds like it's an overwound A3 pickup... might get you in the ballpark of a Nocaster pickup.
Does it have a bottom plate? I bet it'll sound nice regardless of how close it sounds to a Nocaster :)

Maybe they are pulls from a current production Highway One™ Telecaster®. Fender's description of the pickups in those:
Quote:
The plastic bottoms (on the Classic Series pups) have raised bosses around the screws. Some folks cut them off to add a baseplate. I make larger holes in the baseplate to fit around the bosses and attach the baseplate to the pup bottom with the mystery screws Fender puts on them from the factory. ![]() What I'd like to hear from someone here, is how do those pups sound in the new Hwy 1s compared to the older spec pups (which were the same as in the Classic '50s)? And what do they measure on an ohmeter? Look at that picture of the pickup in the auction from reliablefender and compare it to ones from the Classic Series '50s and '69 Thinline. The Classic Series have the hot lead (yellow) terminated on the left (then crossing over to the right), and the one that must be the Hwy 1 pup has the hot lead terminated on the right. That provides a useful means to distinguish them visually. |

Those mystery screws...
are adding inductance to PUP
like a baseplate but not as extreme an effect...I cant think of any other reason they would be there. Those alnico3 mags have sparked my interest, and adding the plate might get you into nocaster country. |

At 14.5, I'd bet so. Dang!
That's pretty hot, sheesh. Got my GFS '60s HOT AlNiCo (9.6k AlNiCo V), I just need to finish the body and put everything together... then I'll post a review.
