Hello, Newbie Here Looking To Build Another Tele Custom, Advice?
Hey All, Looking for any advice on "definate winner" pickups for my next Tele style custom guitar I will be building soon. I've already built two a few years back, one a solid alder body and maple/ebony neck with Texas Specials (now with Carvin Humbuckers) and a solid swamp ash and maple/maple with the previous Specials, which I'm extremely satisfied with. Both are on the hotter side of course.
What I'm thinking of putting together is either a) a solid black korina with maple/rosewood or maple/ebony neck yet still want as much sweet twang (no shrillness) from the bridge pickup as I can get and a smooth/warm/defined/glassy humbucker at neck OR b) another solid swamp ash with either neck options above with same end results.
I really want the twang that I don't get with the current guitars, obviously. But I want a humbucker at the neck on this next project...I'm thinking a Seth Lover hum. either way, from all I've read it seems a good choice. Or is there something beter for this wood combo? What about the bridge pup? There are so many to pick from! Anyone have some input on what would be best for either wood and deliver the twang I'm looking for?
I prefer a standard chrome covered humbucker and a vintage style Tele bridge pup for asthetic purposes by the way. Hope I have'nt asked for too much, I realize I'm all over the place here, but I think I have an idea of what I want!
Any help is appreciated!
