installed noiseless pickups...now..noisier?

I took out the Hot Vintage pickups in my telecaster and put in Noiseless ones..but now I"m getting a worse hum and buzz..it seems to go away when I touch the knobs or cable or put my hands on the strings....what's the deal? is something not grounded right?

sounds like your string ground is not properly connected. if the bridge pickup has a metal baseplate, it is likely connected to ground already. double check that first

OK...I"ll pull it apart tonight...what should I look for....check the baseplate of the bridge pick up for a ground wire on the bottom?

Add a wire, solder it to the volume or tone pot, and strip the wire on the other end and put it in one of the bridge mounting holes. Strip the wire on that end enough so it touches the bridge, and stays in the hole.

which bridge hole are you referring too...the holes that mount the pickup to the bridge or the ones that hold the bridge to the body...

Whoops! Sorry.

I was talking about the bridge/body hole... it works, and its the way I do it when I need it, but I'm sure other people have other methods for it.

I got it grounded and it seems like most of the hum is gone when I directly run it into the amp. if I use a distortion box...then the hum comes back until I touch the strings.

Theres nothing you can do about that- its like that with every guitar, unfortuently. If you listen closely, the hum is there even if you directly run in to the amp, its just not as noticable.
