Jazzmaster tones in a Tele (bridge) size pup

Well, I'm back to listening to a bunch of surf music again, and most of the guitarists are using Jazzmasters.

I really like how a Jazzmaster bridge pup sounds through a clean Fender amp.

Thing is, I really don't want a Jazzmaster, and I don't want to go through the trouble of either routing a Tele for a Jazzmaster pup, or ordering a special body for one.

Does anyone make a Tele bridge pup that sounds like a Jazzmaster bridge pup? I have a feeling this is probably a long shot, not too many guitarists looking for something this odd, but it never hurts to ask.

Alternatively, might there be someone who can rewind a Tele pup to sound like a Jazzmaster pup?

If you like the Jazzmaster sound, go get one and be done with it . They are great guitars , and if you really want that exzact sound, it's the only way to go.

A Jazzmaster pickup and a Tele bridge pickup are two totally different designs, and even having a Jazzmaster Tele bridge still wouldn't sound 'right' because of the angle the pickup is on. The angle of a pickup plays a big roll in tone.

more to it than just the pu

A Jazzmaster as you know, has a totally different bridge, it floats or moves with the tremolo use, and it doesn't string throught the body.
Personally I think the bridge has a lot to do with the tone of the Jaguars and Jazzmasters, they don't sustain nearly the same as a Strat or Tele.
Also I've read that the Jazzmaster pu was originally used as a Fender steel guitar pu, it has a larger but shallower bobbin than a Tele bridge pu.

Check with one of the custom pu winders, OC Duff or someone may be able to get you in the ballpark but a Tele will never sound exactly like a Jazzmaster IMHO.
