Friend converted to tele lovin Seth "Lover"
I'm putting together a tele for my left handed friend. Last Saturday I took my tele over to give him a taste of what was in store for him. He has an older Fender Twin. We plugged that baby in and Lord all mighty!!!!! The windows shook, the doors shook, the house shook! That Seth sounded sooooooo sweeeeet! He played it for about a 1/2 an hour then plugged his Warmoth strat ( that I made for him 13 - 14 years ago ) with Lace Sensors in. He strummed a few chords, played a few licks, ran through the pickup selector...he put it down after 30 - 40 seconds....glanced at my tele and said, " What are you doing to me! I'll never want to play this strat again"!!

Brad, you're starting to sound like the North American SD Seth Lover Official Spokesman and Humbucker Evangelist. :D
Of course, you've got me wanting to try one. Cheers Matt

Buckers
You know Matt, until recently, I had not played or owned a humbucking guitar since 1980 when my Ibanez AS200 was stolen. Bought a strat and never looked back. Never thought I would ever have a humbucker in a guitar again as I liked single coils so much. Well, the Seth has certainly changed that for me. Again, these are just my opinions and what works for me tone wise. But the search is certainly ( close to ) over for a neck pickup for me! I'm starting a new project tonight. One for me and one for my buddy....if UPS brings my bodies, that is! Guess what pickup is going into the neck of each of these!

Great pickups... got one in the neck of my MIM 50s Classic
The Seth Lover really is the "humbucker-for-single-coil-players-who-don't-like-buckers!" I've tried Gibson 57, Duncan 59s, Pearly Gates and a few others, but the Seth is the only that responds to picking dynamics the way I like... and I mostly like single coils, and find buckers too compressed, unresponsive and muddy.
Previously had a HD Z90 in the neck, and that was a monster pickup, but the Seth Lover just has an extra sweetness that makes it the stayer. Two thumbs up! Trev |

Z-90 & Seth
Hey Trev, i realize the Z-90 and the Seth are two very different animals, but what did you like about the Z-90? What made you decide to put the Seth in instead? Oh and by the way, did you ever get the JD-10 I shipped to Chicago?

Gotta try this too
Since you all have routed for HBers, slap in a Gibby P94 for fun. I have Seth Lovers in my thinline USACG, and they are good PUs, but I keep comming back to the P 94 solid body for my #1 neck tone. Bright and ballsy.

Yeah Brick!
I would love to try a P-94 in this. I have a fond spot in my heart for P-90's, ( my first "good" electric was a 1957 Les Paul Specail ) so I guess I'll have to try one out!

Big Fun
I have a P94 bridge PU in the neck slot of my tele. Has a bit more power. Kent Armstrong's version is not a bad PU for less money. The Seth Lovers are the clearest sounding HBers this side of a Tom Holmes.

Z90s vs Seths
Hey Brad,
sorry if i never got back to you on that... yes the pedal arrived no prob, but it didn't *quite* arrive to me on time, so I left it with my guitar-playing buddy who helped us out alot when we were in Chicago, as a gift. Regarding the Z90... as others have said. Clarity and balls unlike any other pickup I've tried, sounded excellent. Once did this rendition of "texas flood" (I know I know... bit of a crowd pleaser), but the guts and balls of this pup in the neck of my tele was out of this world. However, it is a very "modern" sounding pup. not sterile but definitely full range. Bottom end clarity? It literally sounds like banging on a low E on a piano, no jive. The seths is more polite, warm and sweet, but still clear (a clean midrange, for lack of better description), and that was more the tone I was shooting for, mates well with the Voodoo in the bridge. Both pups still v highly recommended, just depending what sounds you want. Trev |
