The Firebird p'up is a mini humbucker with some real balls!
I have a Duncan Firebird p'up in the bridge spot of my chambered Tele with Kinmans in the neck and middle spots. The Firebird p'up is bright and powerful. It's a prefect match for my chambered Tele body where highs can get lost and the guitar can sound a bit jazzy with more sedate p'ups. I would't recommend it for heavy or bright sounding guitars unless you dig that old Johnny Winter tone. And at $160 for the pick up, you better be sure it's what you want.

Allparts, Duncan, Dimarzio, Kent Armstrong
Lot's of choices, the Duncan mini's w the logo on the front that have no polepieces, have read lot's of good things about the Dimarzio Firebird style mini and the Allparts or Kent Armstrong mini too.
If you want a vintage sound go for a neck pu that isn't too hot or you'll have to get a real hot bridge pu to match the output. |
