Author! Our very own BB - published.

Hey, I've been out of the p'up swapping game for about the last 4-5 years or so, hence the fact that I don't post very often at this forum. However, I always read with interest our resident pickup guru's (BB's) comments about whatnot, as the cat seems to have played, and has objectively assessed, nearly everything under the sun!

Apparently, expertise does not always go unnoticed, hence Brad's article in the latest issue of Performing Songwriter magazine! The article is a great pickup overview for the curious, as well as for cats like myself that've been out of the loop for a while.

I can't resist the temptation to publicly toast (and likely embarrass!) my good friend here. Congratulations, Brad, and thanks for your continued insight. Will there also be a non-fiction novel?!

Wow! A celebrity! I'm not sure if he knows it, but the bridge pickups in both of my Teles are in there because of Brad's suggestions. I have a SK T-90 in one and a Dimarzio Tone Zone T in the other. His suggestions ended up being exactly what I was looking for. Thanks Brad and congrats on the article.

who's BB?

Sorry I'm out of the loop. Also is it in the current edition of Performing Songwriter?

Wow! Thank you guys for all the kind words and support. Believe me...I am NO celebrity......Stan, who I am is just a C.P.J. ( certified pickup junkie ) who was blessed to be able to write about something near and dear to my heart.

Big props go out to a TDPRI brother ( who wishes to remain quiet ) who went to bat for me and got my foot in the door. Without his help and belief in me, none of this would have happened.

The article is a general info piece.....not a lot of meat or tonal descriptions....and ( for the sake of space ) many of my favorite winders were left out. I'm hoping to have another chance to rectify that.

Geddyleedog, I'm glad those pickups have worked well for you. Not the standard tele fare for sure, but in the right situation, they are killer. Those two pickups remain on my all time favorite list.

Tim, Chris, Telenator...thank you for the kind words. I'm sure many here get tired of reading the same ol same ol when it comes to recommending pickups. I hope that some of my suggestions have worked for those that asked.

One of the many beauties of the TDPRI is the vast amount of knowledge freely shared. There are some amazing people who post here....and I have learned so much from so many in the time I've been blessed to be a member of this glorious site Paul has built.

So, thank you all ( and thank you Paul! ) for your friendship and support....and letting this tele lovin', guitar lovin', gear lovin' old fart be a part of the greatest forum on the net.

That's very cool Brad. I'll have to go find a copy of that article to read.

I've checked out a few winders on your recommendation, haven't been disappointed yet. I swear, I will get the Manlius buckers installed someday...

Thanks Chris! You can read the article online at www.performingsongwriter.com. Just below Buddy Holly's picture is the Plus section. You can pull it up from there.

Mick Manlius winds some beauts. I've been through many a neck bucker ( and was very happy with most of them ) in my chambered tele, but once the Manlius went in, I was like..."WHOOOOAH!!.....this is the tone I've been hearing in my head." Let me know what you think once it's in.

Hey, I got your strat pickup set installed today. Sound great so far, I'll use it with the band tonight to hear them a little louder in a different context.
