'73 and '75 strat pickups worth rewinding???
i have a couple of 70's Strat pickups that need a rewind.... Is it worth my time and money ? Are the polepiece's "Alnico?" worth the effort? Any Thoughts?

If you like the sound then go to Lindy Fralin and he can do the rewind for you.

I have not heard these pickups........
these were Non-working when I received them....... I really don't like anything Fender was doing in the 70's... That's why I question these pickups...... Any one know If these Pole pieces are alnico, If so What type? If I had Lindy Fralin rewind these pickups, would they sound as good as a Factory "Fralin"? Any experience's?

And it's like $50 to have a pickup done! With shipping! That's a bargain if you ask me! Lindy is THE pickup rewinding guru. Billy

According to the Duchossoir book, all Strat pickups from the 60's and 70's are Alnico 5. In late 74, the pole pieces went from staggered to flat. Since the bobbins are fine and the magnets are fine, all that will change is the wire when it's rewound to a better wire than what was used in the 70's so you're golden. Just have in mind an idea of how hot you want the pickups to be when they're wound.
