Muy Grande vs Fralin Blues Bridge pups...
I'd like to switch out the current SD Broadcaster bridge pup in my tele (alder, vintage bridge) to either the Fralin Blues Special or Rio Grande Muy Grande pups. I have a Muy Grande neck pup that I absolutely love (full tone, thick and definition), but it is too strong for the Broadcaster. While I love the Broadcaster's chime and piano like tone, I want the same quantities but fatter...so, Fralin or Muy Grande ?
Anyone compare them ? Thanks, JK

Muy Grande, maybe...
I've got a Vintage Tallboy in the neck with a Muy Grande in the bridge. Originally I tried a matched set of Vintage Tallboys, but the bridge was completely overpowered by the neck, so I went to the Muy Grande. I can only imagine how strong a Muy Grande in the neck must be, considering the output of the Vintage Tallboy neck. That said, the Muy Grande bridge is moderately high output but still twangs. I would not call it "piano like". I think it has more output than the Fralin Blues Special bridge pup and is a little fatter. I would probably start with the Muy Grande bridge on that basis and because it costs much less and would be a less expensive experiment. Of course my experience is based on my guitar and yours will be different.

Frailin Steele Pole
My 2cents is I'd try the Frailin Steele Pole pickup. I have them in my 52 re-issue and I tell you they sound great.
Power of a P-90 but clean not overwound. Have not used the other pickups but may want to check out the Steele Pole. Brass Saddles |

Just got my Fralin Blues Special
After the usual 5 week wait, my FBS PUP arrived friday. I popped it into my new CIJ PP and ran to my gig. BAM ... Brad Paisley tone for sure. (just what I was hoping for) Very strong, loud pickup that overpowered the neck. I will have to adjust them or get a higher output pup for the neck (the stock is in there now). Probably one of the best PUPs have heard so far in my lengthy tonal quest.

another alternative
I got a Duncan Jerry Donahue bridge matched with a Vintage Tallboy neck. The JD is a great possibly under appreciated pickup. I play blues country rock soul r&b. I imagine and have heard as much that it is very similar to the Fralin BS. Slightly fatter but not too fat. Ive settled on the JD after trying nocaster(relic)nocaster(clean) Vanzandt, SD Broadcaster.
