big hollow twang

I am currently working on a baritone tele project. In the parts bin there are a SD vintage 54 bridge pickup and a SD custom lipstick pickup... what do you think, will these pickups give me big hollow twang? Or will I have to look for something different?
(btw I'll play it through a Bandmaster Reverb with a 2 x 12 closed back cab, probably use a little slap echo as well)

The '54 should work, although if you want to trade it for a Fender 52RI bridge pup, let me know...

I don't find the 54 "hollow" at all. The Broadcaster is MUCH airy'er.

I suppose the long scale neck and the amp will take care of the "big" part. The 54 is very twangy, I'm just not sure about the "hollow" part indeed. I never tried the broadcaster pickup but it seems like an interesting option, Darrell

I am a huge fan of all the SD pups. I have had most of them, and both teles are loaded up with them. I am just saying, if you want air, the Broadcaster. I associate airy'ness with the hotter sound of an over wound pup. The 54 isn't really very overwound. The attack on it, is immediate.

I have one sitting in the drawer. The Broad. is pup of choice....right now anyway.

I love the B'caster, too. It's what I use... I just associated "hollow twang" with brightness; hence, the 54...

Maybe you could explain what you want a bit better....

I've got that "big hollow twang" in my head, it's difficult to describe. Think e.g. Steve Earle's Guitar Town.

I have it in mine and wouldn't change it for anything. It sounds big to me. By hollow, do you mean like a semi sound?
