HD mini Strat PUP for Telecaster opinions.

I'm about to pull the trigger on this pickup. I've wanted a Strat pickup for my Tele for a long time. I'm just not ready to go the routing route yet to put a real Strat pup in there.

For those that have used them, thoughts? Does it pull off real Strat neck sound? What's the construction like? How hot is it? Does it really resemble a Strat pup? Anything else?

This is a really cool idea. Why hasn't anyone else given this a shot? It has the look I'm going for too.

What are you thinking of doing? Putting it in the neck position or the middle position, like a nashville? We need more information!

I've had one in my '52ri for a few years now. It's a good pickup, but you're not gonna close your eyes and think it's a strat. IHMO it's a little too middy to sound like a strat neck.

It definately looks like a small strat pickup, and the construction is first-rate. It has good output and balances well with my super-90 bridge.

If I had to pick, I'd say the Joe Barden double-blade tele neck pickup gave, me the best strat neck sounds I ever had in a tele.

YMMV,

Stormin!

yeah

yeah,
I used the subject HD pup for a while. Sounded good.
looked good. I found your old post on the subject.
Look at my gallery photos to see old photo of #1 tele with HD pup in it.

Switched to a Rio Grande Vintage Tallboy... I like the sound better.
Tortoise fancy top on the pup matches my tortoise guard too.

I think guard mounting the neck pups helps with big e string attack.

Search on my user name to see posts on this subject.

Talk me into selling my HD pup that is currently not being used. or get a tallboy.

Yes it sounds like a Strat pickup. The construction is is flawless. Drop it in the Tele neck slot and you're done. My mini-strat was in the mid 7k region. It sounded full and had the Strat sparkle. I don't think you can go wrong with this pickup.
