nocaster set wiring problem

Hi!

Im not a guitar-tech expert but i replaced a set of pickups myself.

I replaced the stock pickups in my highway tele with a new set of nocaster pickups. I´ve used the same wiring that came with the guitar, except that i did not ground the bridge plate.

The pickups sound nice, but the middle position is not hum-canceling and the pickups sound slightly microphonic.

what do you think is the problem? Should i only ground the bridge plate? would that give me hum-canceling in the middle position or should i wire it differently??

thanks in advance for the help!

Is the middle position supposed to be hum-canceling?

I mean, is one of those pickups reverse wound, or are they full out "vintage" style?

The HW1 has a seperate ground wire cause it doesnt have a baseplate. The Nocasters are grounded to the baseplate so no seperate wire needed.

The Nocasters are microphonic thats how they supposed to be you also wont get hum cancel cause the neck isnt rwrp.

Well that could be a typo the ohms are listed wrong on the box also.

If it doesnt hum in the middle position one of the coils is wound the opposite direction from the other. If it hums then both coils are wound in the same direction.

Just to throw it all off...Both Nocaster bridge pickups I've had have been reverse polarity from other Fenders (including the neck pickup).

Well if you happen to have 2 rwrp then no hum cancel.

I'm saying I've had two bridge pickups that were rwrp from the neck pickups. So, yes hum cancel.

How do you like the nocasters anyway? I've been thinking about a set.

Very nice pickups. They are slightly microphonic and have nice detail. The neck pickup is clear and warm, the bridge has enough kick to really shout when your amp is cranked or twang beautifully at low-mid amp levels.
