Hidden Neck Pickup Idea...Does it Sound Good?
I was reading that Bill Nash (Nash Guitars) builds some teles and esquires with hidden pickups in the middle or neck positions.
Anyone ever try this? How does it sound? Is this workable or is the pickup too far away to generate a strong enough signal?...even if you use a hot pup like a P-90 or hum bucker, etc... The reason I ask is that I always thought that the look of an Esquire is very appealing with the 1 bridge pup. Or in a std tele configuration, adding a hidden middle pup opens up some more options without the visual clutter. |

You could probably pull it off with a Z90
I had a z90 in the neck position once and it sounded good way down low, and the output was similar to a vintage style bridge. Guys have done this with quarter pounders as well. Where's Pierce? I KNOW he's done this more than once.
