Am I nuts or what?
I don't know what the hell is going on but so far in my pickup quest I've tried Kinman, Barden and Lollar Special T in my CIJ Tele and I keep coming back to the stock Texas Special set.
I always liked the neck pup but thought the bridge could be better, but so far nothing has ousted it for more than a week. |

Sounds like a classic case of 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'. If those pups work in that guitar that's all you need to know.
I had a strat (since sold) that I tried loads of pickups in. CS54s, Fat50's, Lace Hot Golds, and several others. And what set did I find the best and kept going back to? Mighty Mite Alnicos. 25 bucks on ebay. Suited that guitar and my playing perfectly. |

Nope. You're OK!
Judge your pickups by what they do for you, not by what they cost. Consider yourself lucky. :)
As a side note, you can change the capacitor or pot with a little creative wiring to get your bridge pickup to act differently if you insist on modding the sound. Wild Rice Chris adds extra resistors and capacitors to my guitars to get the pickups better balanced, or change the tone on individual pickups. Many times that makes the difference between a good guitar and a perfect guitar.
