Finally able to describe the sound I want...

...so I can use some recommendations.

I'm looking for clear lows, spanky mids and warm highs. Not sure this exists in one set of pups, but can someone point me in a direction please?
Single coil or humbucker doesn't matter, as long as it fits in my tele.

Filtertrons

TV Jones specifially - Brain Setzer's sound. They sound fuller and punchier on a solid body so pick accordingly. On my 335ish thing, I can nail Johhny A's clean tone (which to me fits what you're describing) and get a huge range of ather tones as well. He's also doing some alnico pole piece versions and will keep swapping pickups with you until you're happy.

The Seymour Duncan STL52-1/STR52-1 five-two™ is suppose to get the sound you are after.

This is SD description of it:

Tele® players often complain that their low strings sound “mushy” and their high strings are too bright - especially in the bridge position. The Five-Two concept corrects this with Alnico 5 magnets on the three low strings and Alnico 2 magnets on the three high strings. The result is an all-around, extremely well-balanced pickup with traditional output and vintage appointments such as vulcanized fibre bobbins, formvar wire, vintage magnet stagger and waxed cloth hookup cable. Rhythm model comes with chrome plated brass cover.

I always Love the sound of SD Alnico Pro 2 Tele Bridge!
Smooth creamy with the mids and bite to boot! Been useing them since they came out, most of the time you can pick up a used one for under $55.00 on Ebay, so if you think it sucks it wasn't like you bought a Barden.
I matched this Pup with a Chepo but super sounding GFS Austin Mini Humbucker in the neck (no longer in production) for some jazz tone but with out the mud in your ear, I have had so many wow'S about the tone on my Tele.------------------------------------------------------------
