I'm from the old school of "if it ain't broke- don't fix it" and would rather play my tele than fiddle around with screwdrivers & a soldering iron, but after listening to a recording of my MIM thinline I decided it was time to upgrade those pickups.

I'd played a few guitars with 'noiseless' pickups over the years and was never really knocked out by the sound, but I decided to take a chance on Chris' stuff and sent away for a set of his '48 broadcasters.

Got them fast and the installation was a breeze. He throws in some caps & resistors that let you roll off the volume without losing the highs - nice touch.

They are totally dead-silent, as advertised. They don't sound exactly like real single coils, but better than many other designs I've tried. I'll never change the pickups on my 23 year old '52RI, but when I'm playing some joint with bad wiring, fluorescent lighting, or when I'm recording with tons of compression and gain, the Kinman loaded thinline is the guitar I go with every time.
