Tape under pickup baseplate
I remember seeing a pic of a tele bridge pickup, where the baseplate was lifted off to reveal a piece of masking tape, with date stamp written on it. Anyone have a pic like that? What is the reason for the tape, is there some reason why the magnets should not touch the baseplate, and the tape keeps them from contacting each other?

For me anyway
The tape just provides an extra layer between the magnets and baseplate to give another layer of protection from Squealing. Any metal parts that touch together that can possibly vibrate are candidates for squealing and the more you can do to eliminate vibrations between parts the better.
