Old Lawrence pups

Anyone have a good way of removing the paint or varnish that Bill used as insulation on his old blade-type tele pups? I've been carefully scraping it off with a razor blade, but there must be a better way...thanks-

I guess no one's responded yet because we don't know what you mean. I have the blade-style Strat pickups from BL but I'm not aware of any paint or varnish. Can you be more specific?
