Eliminating Single-Coil Pickup Hum?

Guys,

Other than purchasing a set of Bardens (which I'm still trying to make a decision about), what is the best way to eliminate or radically recude the amount of hum that is associated with single-coil pickups?

During a gig Saturday night I was getting a heck of a lot of hum from the pickups to the point that it was very distracting! :x

Take Care,
Tony T.

Or use a volume pedal and turn down

inbetween songs. If itīs too much while playing, you got to look into your wiring/fx levels etc. i have no problems using a stock MIM 50īs classic, but itīs essential to stay a bit away from the amp. I even beef up the pup signal with a compressor.

Shielding does help

I did it to my mim and it really cut the noise down drastically, however if you use any type of effect you will get noise.i use a boss noise supressor and it helps alot also or at least my perception is it helps witch is half the battle...lol

Kinmans

You might want to check out Kinmans - they weren't quite right for me (I think I might like the hum!), but most of the people who work at my local store LOVE them. I had the AVn Blues in a Strat, and I must admit they sounded great when the guy in the store played it (never did for me, though).

The guitar nuts shielding thing really works, if you follow the instructions right. I've done it to my tele and there is a realy substantial decrease in the hum--I was actually startled by how much less hum I got
